The Indians Fired First.

New York, Jan. 12.-Gen. O'Beirne has just received a letter from Father Craft, the Catholic priest, who was wounded in the recent battle with Big Foot's band of Sioux Indians. Father Craft says he has disregarded all the laws of medicine and disappointed all the prophets, and is steadily improving. He was stabbed in the back while trying to stop the fight, the knife penetrating his right lung. He says the Indians fired first, and that the soldiers were not to blame for the wholesale killing, as everything was done at close quarters.
