METHODISTS HOLD CONFERENCE ON MISSIONS

The Division of National Missions of the Methodist Church and the Board of Missions of the South Carolina Conference, will sponsor jointly a Conference on Missions July 21-23 at Trinity Methodist Church Orangeburg. S C

This Conference on Missions is held instead of the former Pastors School of Methods which has formerly been and to which only pastors have been invited. The new program represents an expansion in that ministers and laymen who have the responsibility for the work of missions within the conference are invited to be present

The Conference on Missions is set up primarily for a functional rather than an academic approach Hence, there will appear on the program top flight leaders, among who will be persons who are actually succeeding in the specific phase of work in which they are giving leadership.

Appearing on the program will be Bishop J. W E Bowen, resident bishop of the Atlantic Coast Area, who will deliver the opening address; Rev Charles F. Golden Board of Missions, Section of National Missions,.New York; Rev I DeQuincy Newman. Conference Secretary of Missions and District Superintendent of the Sumter District, South Carolina Conference; the Rev Marvin Niblack. pastor of Wesley Memorial Church, Steele Mo , who will give leadership in the area of "Larger Parish and Group Ministry': Dr Albert S Adams, Section of Church Extension. Philadelphia. who will lead the group on "Church Extension'; Dr Walter L Leppert of the joint section of Education and Cultivation, who will lead the group on the "Commission on Missions in the local church; Dr Benjamin Allgood of the section of Church Extension Advance Office, Philadelphia, who will deal with the work and function of the Conference and District Missionary Secretaries. Rev. W. R Gregg is the host district superintendent and Rev. M. D. McCallum is the host pastor

The following additional persons are invited to attend the Conference of Missions: District Secretaries of Missions, the Chairman of Town and Country Commission, the President and Secretary of Missionary Education, the Secretary of Promotion of the Woman's Society of Christian Service. the Conference Lay Leader, the Chairman of the Board of Education. the Chairman of the Board of Evangelism, the Chairman of the Commision on World Service and Finance, one rural and one urban pastor and many other members of the conference whose responsibilities are related in any way to the program of Missions of The Methodist Church
