M'GAFFEYS ALL CONVICTED

FOUR CASES ARE DISMISSED

THEIR SON, RICHARD, GOT TWO YEARS IN PEN TODAY.

Mrs. McGaffey Gets Two Years Suspended and 60 Days Jail Sentence; Baker and McGaffey Sentenced.

Three more cases against the McGaffeys were tried and disposed of in the district court here this morning, and then the remaining four cases were dismissed by District Attorney John A. Valls.

The case against Richard McGaffey, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. McGaffey, charged with passing a forged check, resulted in the young man entering a plea of guilty and he was given two years in the state penitentiary.

In the case against Mrs. Sallie K. McGaffey, charged with passing a forged check, she entered a plea of guilty and was given two years in the penitentiary with suspended sentence, this sentence being at the request of the grand jury returning the indictment. In the other case against Mrs. McGaffey charging her with swindling under fifty dollars, she was given sixty days confinement in the county jail.

George W. Baker and A. B. McGaffey, tried and convicted last Friday and Saturday on charges of passing forged checks and each given five years in the penitentiary, this morning requested District Judge Mullally to pass sentence on them, which was done and District Attorney Valls then dismissed the other four cases against the McGaffeys and Baker.

Thus Mr. and Mrs. McGaffey and son, Richard, and George W. Baker, were all convicted on the charges against them. In the cases today the mother and son had no attorney to represent them and entered pleas of guilty and put themselves on the mercy of the court.
