Full Text

Work is about to commence upon the erection of a salmon cannery at or near Village Point, Lummi island.

British Columbia capitalists are back of it. It is reported that 300,000 feet of lumber will be required in the erection of the buildings and the cannerymen propose to purchase it in Vancouver because they can get it there for $6.00 a thousand, can have it towed over from there for less than the towage would be from the Bellingham bay mills, and can import it free of duty under the Democratic tariff law.

Great thing for this country is the Wilson tariff-helps to promote the investment of British capital in British lumber, British machinery, British merchandise and the employment of British labor for British profit from American resources.
