STATE PAYS BIG RELIEF CHARGE
From Page One

Price West Virginia taxpayers are paying for WPA political folly.

It is true that the claim will be made that some of those on the non-relief payrolls actually came from relief families. Some of them did, but the number is pitifully small.

On the other hand, more than one job has been concentrated in one favored family. Foremen and supervisors from relief rolls-capable and experienced ones at that-are available now just as they were in CWA days; but they have not been chosen.

So the people of the state will continue to pay for the privilege which Mr. Van A. Bittner has given Senator M. M. Neely of allowing Mr. F. W. McCullough to play politics with the WPA at the expense of aggravating human misery and distress and adding to the burdens of the taxpayer.
