Larry "Doc Jive" Shields, the
dean of the disk jockeys, announces
the personal appearance of Larry
Darnell in Savannah on Monday
night, December 11th. Accompani-
ed by Paul "Hucklebuck" Willi-
ams' orchestra, the Regal record-
ing artist will spend his time in
Savannah in the company of the
Jivemaster, appearing at 3 o'clock
on the maestro's "Jive From Three
To Five" for a guest shot, moving
on the Dukes' Record Shop at 327
West Broad Street for an auto-
graph session, and then for a stage
show-dance at Cafe Lincoln Inn
that evening.
Coincidentally, the local Larry
was bedded with influenza last
season when the lyrical Larry
visited WFRP for a personal in-
terview. Mindful of the huge
huge crowds the sepia singer at-
tract-ed, the Rockin' Doc plans to
limit the number of fans who will
throng the broadcasting studios
for glimpse and a listen of that
phenomenal singer who is dubbed
"... the Blues with Heart and
Soul ..."
At Duke's Record Shop, Larry
Darnell will personally autograph
all purchases of his records, cut
exclusively by Regal, for his many
radio fans. At the same time, Paul
"Hucklebuck" Williams will sing
all of his latest releases on Savoy
label for jive purchasers.
In a recent phone conversation
with Darnell, Shields mentioned
that since the 1950 "Doc Jive's
Hall of Musical Fame, Larry's
popularity
had boosted him into
fourth place, based on a postal re-
quests to the 4B Bandstand. Re-
membering the enthusiastic recep-
tion of last season, singing-Larry
wistfully remarked to the spin-
ning Larry that he'd like nothing
better than to visit Savannah
again. An invitation was extend-
ed and accepted, and Mr. Blues
will talk, autograph, and sing his
heart out on his triumphant re-
turn to Doc Jive's domain.
