A Record of Devastation

The United States has cause for shame in her record of forest devastation. The carelessness of the people in setting accidental forest fires and the inadequate protection against fire thru parsimony in the state and federal provisions, is wasting our valuable timber resources to a dangerous degree, not only for posterity, but to our own generation. This week again national forest fires were raging in California, at ten different points, and out of control before tens of thousands of acres were destroyed.
