CHEERING RAILROAD NEWS.

The Asheville (N. C.) Expositor, of the 6th, learns just as it goes to press, that a compromise has been effected by which the North Carolina road will build the Western road on through the West, and also the branch to Paint Rock. But we have so often been disappointed, we do not wish to get up any false hopes. We are told that Col. Gaither brings glorious news on this subject, the particulars of which we hope to get for the next issue. God speed the day when our people shall realize their full expectations.

We have reliable assurances from other quarters that the prospects for an early resumption of labor, on the road so important to us, is brighter now than it has been for years.
