African to Get V.I. Scholarship

A scholarship to be awarded to a deserving African student on behalf of the Jaycees has been approved by the board of trustees of the V.I. College, it was announced yesterday.

The request for the scholarship was made by the Junior Chamber of the Virgin Islands.

The disclosure was made by Dr. John Wallace acting president of the college in a letter to the Jaycees' Vice President Le Stein.

This is the third scholarship granted by the college. The first was awarded to the president of Togo, and the second was given to Prime Minister Dr. Eric Williams of newly independent Trinidad and Tobago.

Jaycees will provide funds to cover the cost of transportation from Africa and accommodations in the college dormitory during the student's academic year.
