QUEBEC, Dec. 15 The public we are sure will participate in the satisfaction which we have derived from the perusal of the General Orders this day's Gazette relating to the Right Division of the Army in these provinces. It is a tribute of praise from an authority adequate and entitled to judge. That division of the army had constantly and unavoidably to contend with superior numbers and innumerable privations. Under these disadvantages it saved the most distant portion of Upper Canada and prevented the reunion of the whole of the enemy's force against that portion of the country at this end of Lake Ontario. Indeed when it is considered that the whole regular force of a population of six millions of souls has been directed against a strip of settlements extending six hundred miles along the American frontier, and that the enemy has been master of the chief communication during the greater part of the campaign, the only subject of astonishment is that Canada has been defended at all. An address of Congratulation to His Excellency the Gov. in Chief was unanimously voted on Friday last. His Excellency the Governor in Chief and Suite arrived at the Castle about half past twelve o'clock this day.
