The Cincinnati, (Ohio) paper of January 8, states that a bill had passed the House of Representatives of Ohio, which authorizes the Governor to employ an engineer to examine the grounds on each side the Ohio river, at the falls, with a view of making a permanent Canal on each side of said falls. There is also a bill before the Legislature, but which had not yet been brought up for discussion, respecting a canal between lake Erie and the Ohio river. The paper before us says, "the day that the Erie canal is completed, will be a proud era in the history of Ohio, and we cannot dismiss the subject without earnestly entreating our legislators to put forth the energies of the state in its behalf."
