Full Text

Mr Gouverneur, who has been appointed Postmaster of New York, is the son in law of Ex-President Monroe. It has been understood that Mr Monroe, since the loss of his property, was about to reside with his daughter in New York. The appointment of his son in law, under these circumstances, is an act of generosity toward Mr Monroe, of so delicate a nature as to reflect the highest credit on President Adams. And yet his enemies abuse him for it, though admitting the qualifications of Mr Gouverneur; and Duff Green, affecting to say, the reign of corruption is short. Mr Gouverneur's offence is, that he did not support Noah for Sheriff. It is thus every act of Mr Adams has been distorted by his enemies.
