Full Text

Don't Like It.—The people of Washington have lately been laboring under considerable excitement on account of the appointment of a negro as trustee to superintend white schools. A son of Fred. Douglass has been appointed a school trustee in a district where there are no colored schools, and his appointment to succeed a white trustee is not well received. It is sometimes hard for people to lie in the bed they make for themselves, but it serves them right. Equality is a great thing for those who fancy it. Go on in the course marked out by the Radicals, and you will find eventually that 'a white man is just as good as a negro if he only behaves himself.'
