Full Text

Extract of a Letter from a Gentleman in a Southern Colony, to his Friend in this Town, dated February 1770.

"Your Bostonians shine with renewed Lustre. The last Efforts made by them was indeed like themselves, full of Wisdom, Prudence and Magnanimity: Such a Conduct must silence every pretended Suspicion, and baffle every vile attempt to calumniate their noble and generous Struggles in the Cause of American Liberty. Not only the Philadelphia Farmer, but every Farmer must and will applaud the noble Sacrifice made by the Boston Merchants, and stand ready to seal with their Blood the solemn Covenants they have Zealously entered into. While, if no greater Curse befall those vile Wretches who have perfidiously broke thro' their honourable Engagements; the Blackness of Obscurity at least shall cover them from the Possibility of Favour or Affection from their much injured and enraged Country. Nobler Days nor Deeds were never seen than at this Time. But that we may live to see Days of a more grateful aspect, full of Peace and Happiness, prays your's, &c."
