Dear Sir:
Returning to my office today after a week's absence I note for the first time in your issue of Friday, November 6th, the outcome of your recent election.
As straws show the direction in which the wind blows, so does the election of a Democrat as Sheriff of Tazewell County over such a man as Shields Harman demonstrate the strong drift of the country to the democratic party. It was characteristic of your broad-mindedness to pay the retiring sheriff the richly deserved tribute which you do in the editorial carried in your paper of the same issue.
With assurance of my affectionate regards, I am,
Cordially yours,
BUFORD C. TYNES.
