More Equitable Wage Adjustments
Between Towns and United Action Object of Organization
Formed Here Saturday
Two years' efforts toward uniting the carpenters' labor locals of the state under the head of a state council culminated here Saturday in the organization of the latter by representatives of ten locals at meeting held at the Trades Assembly hall.
Delegates were present from Douglas, Lusk, Riverton, Thermopolis, Worland, Greybull, Cheyenne, Laramie, Rock Springs and Green River.
The plan originated, it is understood, with Harry Fox, president of the Wyoming Federation of Labor, and the state executive was present at the birth of the new state organization. Its purpose, it is set forth, is to assist with the equitable adjustment of carpenters' wage scales throughout the state and shoulder many local troubles by seeking a common ground for the adjustment of all differences. At the present time wage scales paid in towns throughout the state are widely divergent and united action will serve to keep them on a more equitable level. Casper and Lusk boast of the two largest locals in Wyoming.
The organization effected here will come under the administration of the following officers and members of a council chosen for a period of one year:
President, Eddie O. Creger, Lusk, Wyo.; vice president, E. W. Vaughan, Riverton; secretary-treasurer, C. S. Thompson, 536 Park avenue, Casper; executive council, William McCarthy, Laramie; Jesse Hume, Thermopolis; H. C. Hansen, Worland; Charles Craig, Rock Springs; Roscoe Tidd, Lander; Gust Jeipe, Cheyenne; Clyde McNau, Sheridan.
A constitution and by-laws were adopted, together with a program of organization for the coming year.
