Taft Pledges To Back Eisenhower
CHICAGO, (AP) -- Senator Taft, pledging to back the man who had crushed his presidential hopes, sought Saturday to bow from the limelight for a much-needed rest and to "do a little fishing."

The Ohio senator, three of his sons standing by him, watched on an oversize television the proceedings that counted him out of the race for the Republican nomination.

Within an hour, he stood beside the victorious Gen. Eisenhower, who paid him a dramatic peace-overture visit, and told the general so that all within earshot could hear:

"You'll win."

Taft then pledged that he would do everything possible for Eisenhower in his campaign and after he wins the election.

Taft masked his disappointment behind a smile, and after a handshake with the victor withdrew to his hotel room and announced he hoped to break camp and leave Sunday for a vacation at Murray Bay, Quebec.

Because a straight line in an architectural structure will appear to sag, designers often provide a slight arch for such lines.
