CANAL AT THE LITTLE FALLS.

We understand that nearly all the excavation of the canal at the Little Falls, that is done by blasting, will be completed the present season. The success of the contractors in this operation has exceeded their calculation, and the labour which has been done there the present season, is almost incredible. The report of some of the blasts, which they denote sand blasts, is tremendous, and have been distinctly heard in Springfield, a distance of twenty miles. We are told that 90 lbs. of powder have been used in one explosion.
