The following letter among several others received during the week, will be understood and no doubt appreciated for its warm touches of approbation by those who read last Sunday morning's Eagle:
HOME, SUNDAY MORNING,
October 29, 1884.
DEAR MURDOCK:--I don't presume my opinion on such a subject will be of much value, but I want to say that your "Saturday Midnight and Sunday Morning" contains much real, pure helpful sentiment. There are so many things we can not know but it helps us to take hold of the sentiment, and believe that the whispering of every breeze, the patter of each raindrop, and the rustling of every falling leaf, are the minor chords of some grand anthem that will greet and gladden our ears somehow and somewhere when they are no longer deadened by the sounds of bickering and contention that make so much of discord in the music of this life.
And if it is only a sentiment it is one, that lights up many a hope to feel that when the long, weary week of life with its heavy burdens and hard fought battles shall have given way to the night of death, that beyond it all is a glorious dawning and the day it ushers in will be a day of rest. Your article appears in pleasant contrast to some I could mention, and it encouraged me and I hope these words will encourage you.
