Their Investment
Nearly 200 members and patrons of Co-op Stores, Inc., of Montevideo, Minn., attended the annual meeting March 19 and heard reports of the association's excellent progress. Earnings for the year were paid in stock after proper reserves had been set aside. Four percent interest was paid on stock.
It was pointed out that the store, in its first four months of operation, earned 12.37% on the capital investment of its member-owners, and on the basis of a year, 37.11%. The members were urged to supply all the capital necessary to make the co-op independent financially of any outside agency.
Speakers included C. D. Clipfell, Midland director from District II, Glenn Thompson, Midland educational director, C. I. Cook, manager of the wholesale grocery department, and Sam Boyle of American Farmers.
The following board was elected:
E. L. Smith, president; E. R. Svor, vice president; E. J. Jorgenson, secretary; Axel Mattson, treasurer; Joseph S. Jones, Louise Gippe and George Cordingly.
A fine meal was served by these women: Mrs. Henry C. Wolfe, Mrs. Axel Mattson, Mrs. George Cordingly, Mrs. E. J. Jorgenson, Mrs. Cliff Stenson, Mrs. E. R. Svor, Mrs. Harry Browning, Mrs. August Kuehn and Mrs. E. L. Smith.
