The State Journal gives the following as the official footings on the several candidates for State Officers in every county in the State, except La Pointe, from which no returns have yet been received:

| Position | Republicans (Name, Votes) | Democrats (Name, Votes) |
|-------------------|---------------------------|-------------------------|
| Governor | Randall, 41,697 | Cross, 44,185 |
| Lt. Gov. | Schurz, 44,373 | Campbell, 44,431 |
| Sec. State | Thomas, 43,769 | Jones, 45,429 |
| Treasurer | Hastings, 44,699 | Habich, 44,298 |
| Sup. of Inst'n | McMynn, 44,405 | Draper, 44,757 |
| Atty. Gen'l | Jackson, 44,312 | Bouck, 44,764 |
| Comptroller | McGregor, 43,981 | Squires, 44,814 |
| State Pris Com | McGraw, 41,408 | McGarry, 43,795 |

The majorities are as follows: Randall, 512; Campbell, 61; Jones, 1,660; Hastings, 401; Bouck, 402; Draper, 352; Squires, 833; McGraw, 2,387.

La Pointe, the only County to be heard from has been reported at 40 Dem. majority. None of the 'supplements' are included in the above totals, as they cannot be counted except in violation of law, and would not alter the result on any candidate, if they were counted. They would add about 650 to the Democratic and about 400 to the Republican aggregates.

Comparing the total vote, with these additions, with the official canvass last fall, we have the following result:

| Year | Republican Candidate | Votes | Democratic Candidate | Votes | Total Vote |
|------|----------------------|-------|----------------------|-------|------------|
| 1856 | Fremont | 66,090| Buchanan | 52,867| 118,967 |
| 1857 | Randall | 45,097| Cross | 44,835| 90,932 |

It will be seen that the Republican vote has fallen off about 21,000, the Democratic vote about 8,000; and the aggregate vote some 29,000. These figures carry with them their own moral. Let Republicans everywhere lay it to heart, and resolve never again to be 'caught napping.' We have barely escaped defeat, when we ought to have elected our whole ticket by 10,000 majority.—[Milwaukee Sentinel.
