Juanita Davis, North Lewisburg, Beaten, Left In Ditch on Friday

A 14-year-old North Lewisburg school girl was beaten into unconsciousness and thrown into a ditch by an unknown man, Friday afternoon according to Sheriff Walter T. Galloway. She is Juanita Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Davis, of North Lewisburg. The name supplied by the girl as her assailant was believed by Sheriff Galloway to be fictitious.

Still unconscious, she was discovered by Paul Hall, Union county farmer, near his farm on a county road just off Route 275, near the Union-Champaign line at 5:30 p. m.

Two notes, torn from the same sheet of tablet paper were found on and near the girl. One in her pocket was a love letter; the other was found near her with the following words scribbled hastily:

"Get Help Please"

"Get help please before someone gets hurt, 1950 blue Ford"

Apparently the girl had regained consciousness long enough to remove the love note from her pocket, write the note calling for help, tear off the top half and return the second half to her pocket, after being ejected from the car.

North Lewisburg school officials said she attended school Friday morning but did not return to school after lunch.

Beaten Once Before

She was treated by Dr. Walter Burt, Milford Center and sent to the Mary Rutan hospital in Bellefontaine. She was released from the hospital Saturday morning and returned to her home.

While identity of the assailant is unknown, it is known that the girl had been with him on four other occasions since February.

In September, the girl was also badly beaten, presumably by the same man, according to Sheriff Galloway. She was found that time on the ball park at North Lewisburg.
