WINNERS IN WISCONSIN PLAY WRITING CONTEST ANNOUNCED

James Murtaugh, Milwaukee member of the Wisconsin Players; Warren Beck, Appleton, and Marian A. Dryer, a Beloit college student, were announced today as winners of the national contest being sponsored by the Drama League of America.

Mr. Murtaugh's one-act playlet is called The Faith Pauper, and won third place in the contest. Beck's play, The Fixed Cannon, won first and Miss Dryer's sketch, The Junk Man, third.

These three playlets will compete with those from other states from which the four best will be chosen and published, accruing to the author a cash royalty of $250 and a percentage of the receipts of book sale and any stage presentation.

The Wisconsin committee of selection included Mrs. Laura Sherry, chairman; Miss Ellen Barrows, Avis McHenry and John Paul Jones. All are members of the Wisconsin Players.
