Full Text
A report has been in circulation that Mr. PITT, Prime Minister of Great-Britain, has resigned—particulars of this report are contained in the following:
Previous to the meeting of Parliament, a cabinet council was called, when Mr. PITT proposed that a REFORM should immediately be brought forward by the ministry, being the best mode to quiet the minds of the people—however, the rationality of this measure was not adopted, and finding himself in the minority of the cabinet, he instantly resigned; the temerity of such a step may likely prove fatal to Britain, as he was a very popular minister, and much esteemed for his integrity; if insurrection and commotion are to take place, this must undoubtedly accelerate the business, and indeed if it should happen, it will be a signal for all Europe to follow the example. When this country looks at the dreadful storm which is gathering there, well may they exclaim, "O fortunati nimium, si sua bona norint."
