Full Text

An Accident on the Railroad.

On Thursday night a man residing at West Wheeling, whose name we could not learn, was at Bellaire and managed to get intoxicated, as to liquor. In other respects he was perfectly sober, and he started up the railroad toward home. On the way, and when about midway between Bellaire and West Wheeling, his load became a little too heavy for him and he laid down on the side of the track, resting one hand upon the iron rail, and in this position is supposed to have gone to sleep. A train of cars came along and passed over his hand, depriving him of two or three of his fingers. He was taken to Bridgeport where his fingers were trimmed and dressed.
