$15,000 FIRE AT CLOSTER.

One Hotel and Several Other Buildings Destroyed.

ENGLEWOOD, N. J., Sept. 21.—The residents of the village of Closter, near this place, were aroused from their sleep about 2 o'clock this morning by an alarm of fire. Sparks from a locomotive on the Northern Railroad had set fire to Rogers's butcher shop, on Main street. The flames spread very rapidly, and soon Ward's Hotel, Froun's candy store, Huger's delicatessen and a cigar store all frame buildings from two to four stories high, were totally destroyed, with most of their contents. Families occupied the upper stories of all the buildings, but the inmates escaped. Some of them lost all of their effects. The total loss is estimated at about $15,000. The only insurance is on Ward's Hotel, $2,500, and Rogers's butcher shop $200.
