High life below stairs with a vengeance. Wesley Tapsico, a young colored man, a native of this city, was lately killed in a duel at Port au Prince by a mulatto named Kelly. Wesley was the son of Jacob Tapsico, a very decent & religious colored man, well known in Philadelphia, and who resided for a long time as servant in one of our most respectable families. The boy himself was once a domestic in a very respectable family, where he wanted for neither sound precept nor good example. He received an education superior to that commonly obtained by persons of color, and had a prospect of rising to wealth at Port au Prince; but he must take upon him prematurely to act the gentleman and the fool, and he died Consequently "as a fool dieth."

Kelly eluded the summary justice which the government of Hayti would probably have inflicted on him, by timely concealment on board a hulk, whence it is rumored, he escaped to Baltimore
