FAIRBANKS — Construction will start as soon as "building weather'' arrives on a $20,000 public cold storage plant, according to an announcement by the Sub-Arctic Trading company.
The plant will contain 350 private lockers, each capable of holding 300 pounds of meat or an equivalent amount of fruits or vegetables.
In addition to the private lockers, the plant will have a modern meat market for retail sales of meat as well as for the benefit of those storing meat in the lockers.
A fur storage room and sharp freezer for meats, fruits and vegetables will complete the plant.
