Alaska Flag To Be
Flown at South Pole

WASHINGTON, (P) - The North Star soon will be seen over the South Pole.

This will come about early in October when members of the Operation Deep Freeze supply station in Antarctica hoist the Alaska flag over their camp.

Aides of Delegate E. L. Bartlett said today they have agreed to provide the flag for delivery by Rear Adm. George Dufek, commander of the Antarctic Naval support force for the International Geophysical Year.

It will be flown over the camp, at the geographical South Pole, and returned to Bartlett for presentation later to the State in connection with Alaska's official admission to the Union.
