Frightened at Coal Wagon, Singer Team Breaks Away.
A new team belonging to M. E. Keener of the Singer sewing machine agency of this city was frightened this noon by a large coal wagon and the horses proceeded to get out of the way of it by taking the bits in their teeth and striking off from the agency on Twentieth street up the hill. At Eleventh avenue, men from a Long View street car attempted to stop the horses, but only succeeded in changing their course. They ran madly down Eleventh avenue to Nineteenth street, where they struck a tree and disengaged themselves from the buggy. They continued through Long View park and when exhausted were finally caught.
The damage done to the buggy was light, but one of the horses was severely injured. It was fortunate that no one was in the rig at the time of the runaway or a serious accident might have occurred.
