For Custody of Child
PITTSBURGH, (AP)-A thrice-wed former air force major who heads a Seattle, Wash., airline today won custody of his son by his first wife.
He is Richard L. Burke, president of the New England Airlines at Seattle. He asked the Allegheny County court for custody of Michael James Burke, four. The boy had been living with his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ellen Birch, in Pittsburgh.
Burke's first wife, Jeanne, died in 1947. Burke later remarried.
Judge Michael A. Musmanno called Burke "a gay Lothario of the skies" who has "come down to earth." Mrs. Birch had charged Burke's "misbehavior forfeited his right to the child."
