Louisburg, March 4-(AP)--
A school bus carrying 30 negro children, with an inexperienced driver at the wheel, crashed through a bridge railing and plunged into Harry's pond near here today. Killing four children and injuring at least 14.
The dead were: Otho Crudup, 17, Lue Kersey, 17, James Randall, 11 and Finley Davis, 13.
Twelve were given first aid and out of the 20 brought to Louisburg. Two others were carried to Rocky Mount for hospitalization.
Uncertified Driver
Sheriff John Moore said that 15-year-old William Young, whom he described as inexperienced and uncertified, was driving.
Young was injured. Moore and School Superintendent Wiley Mitchell said that Jacob Young, the certified driver and brother of the youth at the wheel, was in the bus.
The bus was headed for a school in Zebulon.
It was one of the worst school bus accidents in State history.
