When the Rev. C. A. Bentley comes home this week from Idaho, he will be driving a brand new 1947 automobile, given him by a group of Big Horn county residents.
The group of local men who decided that the Baptist minister to the Crow Indians who doubles as pastor of the local church needed better transportation are now asking that everyone please stop sending in contributions. Already several checks have been sent back to the donors and any others that come in will be returned.
Enough to buy the car, with complete equipment, was donated in less than eight days.
The car itself began its trip to its new owner on Tuesday. Mrs. Bentley, accompanied by Harold Stanton as far as Missoula, left to pick Mr. Bentley up and bring it home.
The auto, a four-door sedan, is completely equipped even down to lap robes. Extras include a radio with a rear seat speaker, seat covers, a windshield washer, heater, sun visor and chains. The license and taxes are paid for, and insurance coverage of all types has been arranged.
The C. A. Bentley transportation fund was opened for subscription at 5 p.m. on Sept. 12 and was closed at 10 a.m. Sept. 20.
A financial statement is to be sent to every subscriber, and those who do not receive a copy by Oct. 10 may get in touch with the secretary, County Attorney Bert W. Kronmiller.
