Translated from late Lisbon Papers.
October 25th arrived at Lisbon, the Spanish division of Gen. Carrera famous for his valor in Galicia, Castilla, and Estremadura. Arrived also, at the same time, twelve transports with French prisoners taken at Coimbra.
In Asturias, the 16th of Oct. the division of General Bonet, 15000 strong at the beginning of the year, is now reduced to 6 or 7000 men. The Asturians have about the same force in their province, besides 4 or 5000 more in Galicia, actually marching against those modern Vandals.
Sailed from Corunna, the expedition commanded by Gen. Bouille, escorted by the British frigates and the Spanish gun boats. They were at first bound for Biscay: but being informed of the precarious state of the French in Asturias, it is said the orders were changed, and in consequence were to proceed for that province.
