The South
Charleston, April 10.--The South Carolina State Convention, adjourned to-day, subject to a call of the President. Resolutions were offered and adopted, approving of the conduct of Gen. D. E. Twiggs, in surrendering to the authorities of Texas the Federal property lying within the limits of that State.
Messrs. Wigfall, Chestnut, Means, McGowan and Bayles have been appointed on Gen. Beauregard's staff.
A large number of the members of convention have volunteered their services as privates in the ranks.
The city presents a comparatively quiet aspect. A combat is hourly expected.
[SECOND DISPATCH.]
Charleston, April 11.-A hostile collision is hourly expected. Dispatches state that an attempt will be made to-day to reinforce Fort Sumter in small boats, protected by sand bags.
The war vessels, in the meantime, will protect the landing of a party on Morris Island.
Gen. Beauregard, it is reported, has demanded the evacuation of Fort Sumter.
