Astounding facts.--It is an alarming statistical fact, which we read in the Nashua Telegraph, that in that State, one person in every 312 is insane! This is founded on positive information obtained in 161 towns by Dr. Bell, in which, out of a population of 193,569, he found 312 maniacs--making, at the same ratio, 433 for the whole state. Lamentable to relate, the greater portion of these are paupers, and in chains, dungeons, and cages! For under the humane administration of Isaac Hill and his partisans, too much occupied in oppressive persecution of their political opponents, this State is without a lunatic asylum. Such politics as New Hampshire has been for years governed by are enough to drive the whole population mad if they do not rid themselves of their Tory tyrants. In 223 of the above cases 13 1-2 years was the average term of their horrid imprisonment!!--N. Y. Star.
