The County Fair last week passed off well; the exhibition was in the main highly creditable to the county. The show of fruit and vegetables exceeded that of any former year, since the organization of the Society. Thomas Howland, of Pleasant Prairie exhibited seventy-three varieties of apples, all properly named by labeling. Mr. L. Woodworth, of Bristol, had an excellent show of apples and pears. L. Dutton, of Paris, also exhibited superior apples. W. H. Smith, of Salem, had a show of grapes, which attracted general admiration. Mrs. E. D. Robbins, of Salem, also had a fine display of grapes.
The Ladies Department of the Fair, displayed much skill and taste; we have not time to particularize; the official report of the Society will, no doubt, do justice to the Ladies Department.
The Butter and Cheese on exhibition, would have been creditable to any of the best agricultural districts in the State of New York. Vegetables of such perfection and size were probably never before exhibited in the county. The detailed Report of the several Committees will appear next week.
