One year ago there was but one house in Blakeley, in the Alabama territory—there are now nearly one hundred building. Ten large ware-houses are erected by the water side, and the largest hotel in the territory has been recently built. A very respectable printing establishment has now gone out from this city, and a paper will be printed weekly or semi-weekly, called "The Blakeley Sun and Alabama Advertiser." $600,000 dollars worth of goods and produce was deposited there from December 1817, to June 1818, and 48 vessels loaded and unloaded, making a tonnage of 4000 tons. Ships have unloaded there directly from the West Indies. One house in Boston shipped to this one place $100,000 dollars in goods, in the course of five or six months. One hundred brick makers and fifty ship carpenters left New York to work at Blakeley a short time ago. Three steam boats are now building—two to ply from Blakeley into the interior, and one of 600 tons to go to New Orleans—capital $200,000 dollars. N. Y. Columbian
