For if I had not been willing to do it?—uphold with mind, and heart and hand (Applause.) destiny I do not consider myself born to destiny and If this prophecy may fail, my attachment to this country will never fail as long as I have breath. (Renewed applause.)
Gentlemen allow me to say that, in this ancient city of Annapolis, I find what I expected this morning anpals a of peace was proclaimed here in February when ordained general thanksgiving. It was celebrated, and, accompanied by a dinner and a ball.
Among the toasts on that good fashion Maryland there gat blessing of the restoration of peace, having taken at the second was, "The United States Confederacy endure forever a, allse That Confederacy has been has become a Constitution, better calculated more beautiful form government aderent words, though in the same sense he sentiments of Annapolis, and I say rights United States May endure forever." [Great applause.]
