THE SHEPHERDSTOWN REGISTER
The proprietorship of this paper has undergone a change, the undersigned under whose control it has passed, deem it proper that they should advise its patrons of such change, and of its future course.
Believing a paper devoted to party politics uncalled for in this community, they have determined to pursue a strictly neutral course, and to debar from the columns of the Register, everything savoring in the least degree of partisan asperity.
They do not intend by this announcement to deny themselves or correspondents the privilege of canvassing the merits or demerits of great questions of State policy, as regards which party lines are not drawn, as for example the questions of Reform, Internal Improvements, &c.
Its columns will be mainly devoted to the interests of Agriculture, the Mechanic Arts, &c., in which our town and neighborhood are principally engaged, and contain approved selections of a Literary character.
Shepherdstown having a constant communication by Railroad and Canal with Baltimore, Washington, Georgetown and Alexandria, it will be a valuable advertising medium for the business men of those cities.
TERMS—$2 per annum, in advance; $2 50 if paid within the year.
All communications must be addressed (post paid) to the Publishers.
