Full Text
The indignant feelings of the citizens of Savannah, at the late dastardly conduct of the British squadron near Hampton, so far from subsiding seem daily to heighten and increase—the more they reflect on the indignity offered the nation, the more they are enraged. Yesterday afternoon we had the pleasure to see the marauders, Whitby, Douglas, and Humphries (in effigy) marched thro' the principal streets and squares in this city, in a cart; after which, conveyed to the South Common.—suspended on a gallows erected for the purpose, and on it burnt to ashes, amidst the acclamations of thousands. On no occasion do we recollect ever to have seen so numerous a collection of people, assembled in one body, in this town.
