HOUSEWORK
A SUCCESS

Gwendolyn E. Cochran of the
Howard University
Institute of
Home Economics writes the Norfolk
Journal and Guide:

"One of the secrets for success-
ful housework is a schedule for the
control of time. A weekly schedule
for the housewife or for employees
think best.

"Monday: 1 Put house
in order. Dust. 2 Mend clothes to be
laundered. 3. Cook-Using left-
over in an attractive way. Cook
for Tuesday.

Tuesday: 1. Wash. 2. Put
up in order. 3 Serve meals
variously cooked.

Wednesday: 1. Iron. 2. Put
house in order. 3. Bake.

Thursday: 1. Cook. 2 Sew.

Friday: 1. Clean house. 2. Do
of marketing

Saturday: 1. Bake. 2. Market
chickens.

"Specialized scheduling of work
to be done, not a daily schedule
merely, but minute directions as
to each process- and its prece-
dent steps. Pre-working plans vary in
different houses whether the work is
done by hired help or by the house-
wife to reduce the necessary mo-
motions involved in each piece of
work and to state, in detail the
steps in each duty."
