CAPTURED
The Negro Hamilton Who Cut Professor Meadows is Now in Jail.

Last Monday night Marshal J. S. Saunders arrived from Greenville with the negro Hamilton who cut and seriously wounded Professor Meadows, of the A. & M. College, just before Christmas.

The negro made his escape and was, for a week or more, harbored in the southern portion of the county by another negro named Gillespie.

The officers discovered his hiding place, but he got away before his capture could be effected. He was afterwards located in Greenville where he was arrested and is now safe in the county jail.

When Hamilton was brought back a large crowd was at the depot to meet him but the officers, as a precaution, had the train to stop at the Louisville Street crossing, and from there conveyed him to the jail without coming in contact with the crowd.
