Loss of vessel and lives.--Capt. Hickman of the schr. Emily Jane, at this port, states, that a two topmast schr. went ashore on Sunday night last, a little to the N. of Smith's Island, where she remained yesterday morning. After leaving Cape Charles, Capt. H. spoke a whale boat belonging to the same place with himself, returning from the stranded vessel, but passing quick could only understand that they had boarded her, and that the persons were all frozen to death. Capt. H. could learn nothing further.
