ALEXANDRIA,
WEDNESDAY MORNING, JUNE 20, 1827.

In reference to the report, published some days ago, of the seizure of a British schooner at Ocracoke, the Elizabeth City Star of Saturday last says:--"By later accounts we understand she was not seized--that the coffee was delivered by the mate without the knowledge of the captain, who was on shore. There is, however, from what we can learn, something suspicious concerning her. The captain and mate tell different stories; one says she is from Cuba, the other that she is from St. Domingo. She is a sharp built vessel of 40 or 50 tons; and it is believed at Ocracoke that she is a pirate. The mate and one of the seamen of the schr. and the captain of the craft who received the coffee, have been taken to Beaufort and committed to jail."

We are further informed that this vessel, with a schr. called the Gideon Sparrow, Capt. Meekins, from New York bound to Newbern or Wilmington, were driven ashore on the 5th instant, and totally lost.
