AND OIL FEVER PREVALENT
One Made People Poor Physically,
While Latter Will Make Them Fat
Financially if it "Pans Out" Well.
With the vanishing of almost the last vestige of the influenza epidemic, Texas is now in the throes of the "oil fever," and with the bringing in of so many big gushers in the Burkburnett field in North Texas the "oil fever" is spreading to every community that has had any prospects of being in the oil-producing zone, and consequently renewed interest in those fields.
Even Laredo people have become interested in this subject, and while some look hopefully toward the Zapata county field, where drilling operations have been in operation and oil has actually been found in fairly good quantities, it is reported that a number of leases of land are being taken by oil prospectors in the country not far from Laredo to the northward. Some Laredo people are purchasing stock in the Burkburnett field companies, while others are keeping their "weather eye" open on developments in this section.
