ANOTHER BATTLE.

The following article is from the New-York Evening Post of the 3d inst.

Capt. Story, of the sloop Nancy, who arrived this afternoon in 4 days from Norfolk, states, that the morning he sailed (Sunday last) he read in a Norfolk paper of that day, an account of an engagement between the United States frigate Constitution, Capt. Campbell, and a British frigate, which was brought to Norfolk by an arrival there in a short passage from Malaga. The account stated that the British frigate demanded leave to search some American vessels which were under convoy of the Constitution in the Mediterranean. This was refused by Capt. Campbell, on which an engagement immediately ensued, which lasted six hours, when the English struck her colors, but Capt. Campbell declined taking possession of her, on which she bore away.

[The Norfolk papers to the 1st of August, had not published any of the matter, and it is believed the report is a hoax. An arrival in a short passage from the Mediterranean, left the Constitution at Syracuse, in Sicily, on the most friendly terms with the British Ships in that port.]
