Capitol Police Appointments.—Mr. Geo. Y. Brown, Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate, and Col. N. G. Ordway, Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives, have made the following appointments to the new Capitol force, which those officers were authorized to create:
John W. Westfall and Col. John Coughlin have been appointed lieutenants of the force. No action has been taken in relation to other officers. The privates already appointed are: From Maine, Amasa K. Walker; New Hampshire, Col. John Coughlin; Vermont, Stephen W. Dexter; New York, John W. Westfall; Ohio, W. W. Cromer; Kansas, Chas. G. Prentice; Nevada, Wm. E. Burton; New Jersey, John Giberson; Massachusetts, Capt. Stephen A. Boyden; Minnesota, Thomas Mullen; Michigan, Wm. E. Creary; Oregon, H. R. Kincaid; Illinois, K. T. Bowers; Maryland, Charles Poffenberger; Indiana, Col. John Lindley. Superintendent of the crypt, John Bridges.
No appointments from States that have yet to hold their elections have been made, and further applications from other States are still under advisement.
A handsome uniform is to be selected, and the force is to be clothed and armed as rapidly as possible.
