VIENNA.-A report from Bucharest states that the present trip of Sid Deterding, the general director of the Royal Dutch Shell, to Rumania, is due to the personal invitation of King Carol, who feels much under obligation to him for financing the coup d'etat of June 8, 1930.
Deterding himself has granted an interview to the press agency "Rador," three-quarters of his utterances being a savage attack on the Soviet Union. The "Curentul" of March 30 emphasises Deterding's declaration that "the world crisis will not be overcome until the Soviet system has ceased to exist." Besides this it is necessary that bourgeois Europe should establish its economic unity, the united front of capitalism.
All this shows plainly that Deterding is exploiting his personal relations with King Carol to spur Rumania to greater readiness for war.
He regards Rumania to such an extent as his tool, that he has already reviewed his Rumanian intervention troops against the Soviet Union. On March 25 he attended, in company with the king, the military parade held on the occasion of the taking of the oath of allegiance by the recruits in Bucharest.
