THE REPUBLICAN.

NEWPORT, WEDNESDAY MORNING, DEC. 4.

A satisfactory price will be given for files of the R. I. Republican, from January 1st, 1832, up to the present date,

" Tyrants and Priests have combined their efforts with success to prevent nations from becoming enlightened, from seeking after Truth, from ameliorating their condition, from rendering their morals more honest, and from obtaining Liberty."-- Baron D'Holbach.

In another part of this paper will be found the infamous and tyrannical catechism of the Russian Despot and vile coadjutors. How inferior must be the discernment of that person, who, upon reading this creed of the sanctified and remorseless caitiffs of Russia, does not perceive to what desolating calamities superstition will be mainly instrumental in effecting. The true language of a tyrant, is this-- "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God; and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation!"

So the brave, magnanimous, and chivalric Poles, "shall receive to themselves damnation" for having resisted the power, and ordinance of God in that of the cruel, despicable monster who sways the sceptre of the north.

George Washington, and all our Fathers who achieved our Liberty and independence, "shall receive to themselves damnation" for having resisted the power and ordinance of God in that of King George the 3d. and the foul satellites of his court-- for there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God" oh inestimable doctrine! truly from heaven and worthy of all acceptation! Let us hasten to convert the heathen with them! Let the shores be visited by missionaries who shall destroy the liberties and virtues and give them in return slavery, degradation and wretchedness!
